People Development
Modern supply chain practices are relatively new to Asia and the promotion of ‘supply chain and logistics’ as a career option virtually non-existent.
As a result, most businesses’ supply chain departments do not have the ‘strength in depth’ that they require to optimize product and information flows across their business and to manage the physical distribution functions. The usual symptoms are:
- Friction between the production, sales and supply chain/planning departments
- Too much inventory (Raw materials, WIP and Finished Goods)
- Stock-outs and unsatisfactory DIFOT (Delivered-in-Full, On-Time)
- Relatively high warehousing and transport costs
- Service provider underperformance
The LCA difference
Through long experience, we believe that the best way to lift and sustain the performance of supply chain and logistics people is Development through Achievement.
By this, we mean working closely with people, guiding and mentoring them through real projects that deliver real benefit to the business. Through this approach, we develop the technical know-how of the people involved. Equally important is the fact that we develop their ‘soft’ skills while giving them the experience of being central to a project that delivers tangible business results.
Such projects can be run within a business unit, across a country or even regionally across Asia. Where possible, the project component of the training is complimented by classroom style training to develop supply chain skills or by group events designed to develop the soft skills.
Where beneficial, LCA will involve partner consultancies specialized in particular aspects of supply chain training or in personal development training.
Benefits of this approach:
- Experiential People Development that works…and lasts
- Real projects delivering immediate results for the business
- Conducive to staff retention
- Scalable
